You might learn a new technique, such as the magic circle start, how to move the beginning of a round, or some of those new “Japanese lace stitches” that are all the rage at this time.

What should I bring to the group?

Enthusiasm. It can be difficult to actually work on a lace project in a group setting but bring them along so we can all see (and oh and awe) what you are working on. Bring along your questions or troubles or how you overcame a poorly written pattern. Bring along some needles and thread/yarn to try a new technique.

If you have a favorite designer, yarn, needles/hooks, pattern – please share with the group. Once we get going, we can set up a Ravelry group to keep the information and stay in touch during the month.

If you have a specific question or trouble, please submit to cstegert@new.rr.com before the first Monday of the month so we can be prepared to answer your specific question. Troubles submitted after Monday may not be able to be addressed in the group.

It there are specific questions/troubles submitted prior to April 3rd, we’ll start there, otherwise I’ll demonstrate the magic circle start (I use for both crochet and knitting) and find a fun stitch pattern for both knitting and crochet. So bring yarn and needles and hooks appropriate for the yarn size.

Hope to see you, even if you are on your first lace project, April 4th at 5:30 pm. Please book your place ahead of time by contacting Tori at Fibre as there are limited spaces!

Cost: $5/person. Coffee, tea, cold beverages and treats will be provided.

Learn Entrelac Basics
Jun

to Jun 20

Learn Entrelac Basics

Entrelac looks complicated with all the squares and triangles, but is quite easy if you let the knitting show you the way! Solids or long color striped yarns work well. Entrelac is also a good way to use up some of that stash! And learn to knit backwards rather than turning the work, which helps speed up the knitting!

This class will meet two Thursday evenings from 6 to 8:30 and will be taught by Cheryl Stegert. The project is a cowl and the pattern will be provided to you in class.

Class Fee: $55

Supplies needed (not included in class fee, receive 10% off when purchased at Fibre):
+ Worsted or sport weight yarn (two colors are a bit easier to learn but choice is the knitters')
+ Needles (size to match yarn, although up a size provides a bit more drape to the fabric)
+ Locking stitch markers (to mark front side of work and also beginning of round)
+ Tapestry needle
+ Scissors
+ Pattern marking system — whatever you use to keep track of patterns
+ Most important: Excitement about taking your knitting to another level!

Contact Tori at the shop to sign up!
